Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA)

More exhibitors expected for Lima
TheStar/Saturday, 14 January 2017
KUALA LUMPUR: Participation for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima 2017) is set to see an increase despite current cutbacks.
“Even with the economic slowdown, it’s very encouraging to note that we are looking at a higher number of foreign exhibitors and visitors,” said Laksamana Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin.
The navy chief was met after overseeing a handing over of duties ceremony at KD Sri Gombak along Jalan Padang Tembak yesterday.
Laksamana Ahmad Kamarulzaman said 23 navy chiefs had already confirmed their attendance for the exhibition.
“On top of that, 14 representatives from the maritime sector have also affirmed their presence. We only had about half that number during Lima 2015,” he said.
He added that the number of participants could rise in the coming weeks ahead of the March exhibition.
“That itself reflects the support and commitment by foreign navies,” he said.
Next Lima expected to see more participation, says minister
LANGKAWI: The Defence Ministry is expecting a 10% increase in participation at the 14th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) that will be held in 2017.
Defence Deputy Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said that since the biennial event started in 1991, it has attracted more participation from other countries.
“But this year, it increased tremendously. I hope in the future more countries will take part in LIMA.
“We expect the increase to be not less than 10% of the total countries that participated this year,” he told a press conference Saturday….

LIMA - Langkawi
Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) is a maritime and aerospace exhibition that takes place once every two years in LangkawiMalaysia. The next event will take place in 2017.
The event is one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific, and is focused mainly on the defence industry, but also supports civilian industries. In 2013, LIMA recorded an overall growth of 10%, with 433 exhibitors from 31 countries, 333 defence delegations from 38 countries, 632 media personnel from 127 agencies, 68 ships and 78 aircraft attending the show. The 5 day event also saw 38,421 trade visitors from both defense and commercial sectors from all around the world, as well as 135,691 public visitors.
The exhibitors involved in the event exhibit their products inside the purpose built Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), adjacent to the terminal at Langkawi International Airport. The maritime exhibitions take place at Resort World Langkawi while the aerospace exhibitions take place at the Langkawi International Airport. The venues are all in close proximity to each other.
The event is supported by the Malaysian government and industry associations.

LIMA began in 1991 with slightly over 100 exhibiting companies with the aim of making Langkawi the venue for light and experimental aircraft to fly unhampered by heavy traffic, modeled after the EAA Air Venture in the United States. LIMA has now expanded into maritime exhibitions and is also one of Asia-Pacific's largest maritime and air exhibitions. Nowadays, a four-hour flying display is held daily throughout the show.
LIMA 2003 - The LIMA '03 exhibition generated business totaling RM 2.182 Billion (USD 575 million) through 30 contracts, letters of offer and acceptance or intent and memorandums of understanding.
LIMA 2005 - LIMA 05' witnessed a signing of RM4 billion worth of contracts in maritime and aerospace items. According to the then Defence Minister Datuk Seri Haji Najib Razak that the amount included defense contract RM3.2 billion, letters of offer worth RM403 million and letters of intent worth RM344 million. Najib Razak said that a major portion of the contracts sealed this time was related to the purchase of A400M aircraft for the Royal Malaysian Air force which amounted to RM2.8 billion including the equipment.
LIMA 2007 - LIMA 07' was the successor to LIMA 05'. The air and maritime exhibition mainly consisted of the same concepts.
LIMA 2013 - The annual Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2013, was launched on 27 March 2013. The show kicked off with a display of air stunts by the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Among the VIPs who were present was Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Raja Puan Muda Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their two children.
LIMA 2013 recorded an overall growth of 10%. 433 exhibitors from 31 countries, 333 defence delegations from 38 countries, 632 media personnel from 127 agencies, 68 ships and 78 aircraft attended the show. The 5 day event also saw 38,421 trade visitors from both defense and commercial sectors from all around the world, as well as 135,691 public visitors.
Daily airshows and maritime stunts were staged for visitors. The shows are done by local and foreign army personnel. Vehicles included Zodiac and CB90 boats, Super Lynx and Fennec helicopters. The MMEA showcased its Kilat and Petir boats with their Agusta Westland, Dauphin and Bombardier aircraft.
LIMA 2013 was hoped to be the cleanest exhibition ever as the organizers had hired a firm with 150 workers to conduct the cleaning and waste managing throughout the event.
LIMA 2013 witnessed the signing of 24 contracts that amounted to 4.271 billion, boosting the Malaysian defense technology industry.
LIMA 2015 - The event was inaugurated on 17 March 2015 and concluded on the 21st. Dassault Aviation had a successful bid, the Malaysian Government expressed interest in buying some of the Dassault Rafale jets.

Cenang Beach, Langkawi Island
Cenang Beach (Pantai Cenang)  is the busiest beach town on Langkawi Island, where you can find a diverse mix of cafes and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops, and duty-free outlets along its picturesque beach strip. Just a 10-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport, it’s a popular holiday destination for travelling families thanks to its kid-friendly attractions such as Underwater World Langkawi, Rice Garden Museum, and Kiki Club at Meritus Pelangi Resort & Spa. Featuring white sands and clear waters, Pantai Cenang’s expansive beach is also great for sunbathing and exciting water sports such as jet skiing and parasailing. High-end resorts, chalets and budget hotels with views of the Andaman Sea are aplenty here, attracting throngs of locals, expats, backpackers, and foreign tourists. Pantai Cenang’s nightlife scene is the liveliest on Langkawi Island, with plenty of beachfront bars and lounges offering inexpensive alcohol and snacks, as well as live music and cultural performances until late.

Pantai Tengah, Langkawi Island
Pantai Tengah Everything You Need To Know About Pantai Tengah Situated just around the southern road bend of Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah is a basically a continuation of Pantai Cenang. It is the longest stretch of beach in Langkawi – there are a few basic chalets here as well as a few big, all-inclusive resorts here that are especially popular with young families. There’s not much sightseeing here; truth be told that’s the case for most of Langkawi Island. However, there are more than a few ways to kick back and relax; spas are a dime a dozen and finding a tour operator to liven your day up with an island-hopping or mangrove eagle-feeding tour is as easy as pie. Pantai Tengah is a good place for gastronomic options and the nightlife scene here is definitely something to shout about but shopping outlets are sparse.

The Travelling Guides
Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant geographical locations, and can involve travel by foot, bicycle, automobile, train, boat, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Travel can also include relatively short stays between successive movements...

Travel is also defined as an act of traversing through a geographic region or moving from one place to another. This can be temporarily, as is often the case, and can be for a short period of time. Salespersons often travel to different regions in order to generate sales with another company for example.
Travel is kind of like Life, except it happens someplace else. You wake up. You eat. You go out and see things, do things. And you meet people; some of them you get along with, some you don’t. Then you eat again and go to sleep...
